Celtic Hen Harrier

Hen Harrier on nest at Clyde Muirshiel Country Park.

Drawing Hen Harrier at the nest would be near-to-impossible and inadvisable because of the risk of disturbance. This nest, however, was viewable via a remote video camera, connected to the Visitor Centre.
The Hen Harrier public viewing project is carried out in partnership with Renfewshire District Council, Scottish National Heritage, the RSPB and SOC, as in the tradition begun by the late George Waterston, who inaugurated the nest viewing facility at Loch Garten known as Project Osprey

Drawing from a video screen, has its own difficulties, as the image is not nearly as sharp as one would think.
Hen harrier on nest against a background of a gold celtic knot - 38Kb

This composition shows two of the five chicks which hatched in the nest which was being filmed.
The golden swirls of abstracted Celtic knotwork are a further development of my current work.
The two paintings shown here are not, in fact, of the finished works, which will be displayed on this site shortly. They are currently in exhibition at Waterston House, the new Scottish Ornithologists' Club headquarters at Aberlady.
