The Eland is the largest antelope in East Africa, and a related species, the Lord Derby's Eland of West Africa, is the largest in the world.
It is an animal popularly drawn by the prehistoric artists of Europe.

As with all ruminants, the Eland passes much of the day resting and chewing the cud - to us, so reminiscent of domestic cattle.
